About Conflict Resolution Center – St. Louis
The Conflict Resolution Center – St. Louis (CRCSTL) works to provide professional dispute resolution services that are accessible to all. We aim to be a leader in promoting peaceful, lasting and effective solutions to conflict in St. Louis and the surrounding area, primarily through the facilitation and education of our mediation services.
CRCSTL mediates conflicts between city employees and/or their supervisors, neighbors, civilians and the police, as well as other conflicts in St. Louis. We are committed to resolving disputes in the region, including cases with and without pending legal matters.
Position Summary
CRCSTL is seeking civic-minded student interns to assist with our community engagement efforts by promoting our mediation and conflict resolution programming and growing our volunteer base. The intern will foster new relationships with community stakeholders (including neighborhood associations and the Board of Alderpeople), work with agency partners to promote CRCSTL’s work, and table CRCSTL events.
Work may include assisting with outreach materials with an emphasis on social media, conducting outreach trainings in the community, and attending events in those communities as needed. Hours are flexible, though some weekend and evening hours may be required.
Specific Areas of Responsibility
● Under supervision of Outreach Manager, coordinating outreach initiatives,
● Calendaring events, tracking contacts, and assisting with outreach database,
● Drafting and posting social media content in a timely manner at events or throughout the week,
● Attending and tabling outreach events,
● Giving overview PowerPoint presentations to organizations and groups, and
● Performing other duties as required for the implementation of the outreach program.
Professional Qualifications
The ideal candidate would possess the following:
● Experience with social media desirable;
● Familiarity with Google Suite, Microsoft and some graphic design preferable;
● Entrepreneurial spirit and approachable personality;
● Experience with people from diverse cultural, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds;
● Desire to learn sales, marketing, communications, public speaking and/or development;
● Good written and spoken communication skills;
● Comfort working virtually, in-person and with the public;
● Creative and innovative approaches to reaching community members;
● Reliable access to transportation (note: position requires attending community events in person), and
● Must be able to lift 30lbs.
Compensation and Timing
This a stipend based internship.
